You may have traveled down the Roman Road many times. If you have, forgive me for taking you there once again. I may even take you to a few stops that are different than you had in the past. However I have found whenever I take this path, it is good!!
For those of you who have never taken this short but meaningful journey, know that this road presents foundational truth. Our journey will have seven TRUTH stops. At each stop take a few minutes and consider the Word of the Lord.
1. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God… Romans 3:23 (NASB). Stop and consider, have you ever sinned?? Of course you have. We all have, just as the Word tells us. God knew you would sin while He was forming you in your mother’s womb. But He still made YOU!!
2. For the wages of sin is death…Romans 6:23a (NASB).
Perhaps this one is hard to hear, but again it is the truth. What we have earned by living out our sin nature is death. BUT…
3. …The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord Romans 6:23b (NASB). Now isn’t that good news!! Eternal life can be yours through Jesus!!
4. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us Romans 5:8 (NASB).
Is this not amazing, that Jesus died for you knowing you would need a Savior to pay the price for your sin?? But there is even more…
5. For whoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved
Romans 10:13 (NASB). Cry out His name, proclaiming that you are indeed a sinner in need of Jesus, your Savior and you shall be saved!!
6. That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved Romans 10:9 (NASB). Just in case you didn’t get it, we can take a look at this again…Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive you for the sins you have committed. Know that He is faithful to forgive you (1John 1:9). Then invite Jesus, who died on the cross and rose again, to be the Lord of your life. Go ahead, dance, sing, praise the Lord. A heavy weight has been lifted off of you. You have an assurance of salvation.
7. Dear one, may I now encourage you to submit to your Lord, Jesus Christ? You no longer have to conform to the world. You can allow Jesus to begin to transform you. He will renew your mind so that you may prove what the will of God is…that which is good and acceptable and perfect. (Adapted from Romans 12:2 NASB)
If this is the first time you have traveled down the Roman road I want to encourage you to open your Bible and begin reading the book of Romans. It is journey you will NEVER regret.
As I close, there is one more promise I want to share with you from the book of Romans that I have found to be true in my life and am confident you will find true in yours:
The Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.
Romans 10:11 (NASB)
